Overview
The Shard API and webhooks plug automation into your own systems. Start an automation with a single API call, read the results of any run, and trigger workflows from any service that can send a request.
Going the other way, an automation can send a signed webhook to any endpoint, so your systems can verify where each event came from.
Key benefits
Scoped API keys: give each service only the permissions it needs, and revoke any key instantly.
Two-way events: trigger automations with webhooks, and send webhooks from them.
Safe by default: signed requests and automatic retries with increasing delays.
How it works
Create an API key under Settings and choose its permissions.
Send a request to start an automation, or post an event to its webhook URL.
Read the run's status and output through the API.
Verify the signature on any webhook Shard sends you.
