Build your first automation

Last Updated

>

Pick a trigger, add an action, and watch your first automation run.

Let's build a simple automation: post a message to your team chat whenever a pull request is merged. It takes about ten minutes.

Build it

  1. Choose New automation.

  2. Pick the trigger: Pull request merged.

  3. Add an action: Send chat message, and choose a channel.

  4. Use the message editor to include the pull request title and author.

  5. Name the automation and switch it on.

Check that it works

Merge a test pull request, then open Run history. You'll see the run, each step, and its result.

Prefer to describe it?

Try AI Assist. Type what you want in plain language, review the draft, and adjust it.

Tip: keep your first automation small. One trigger and one action is plenty.
